Our Commitment
Accessibility Statement
The Naples Ladies Social Group is committed to ensuring our website is welcoming and accessible to every woman, regardless of ability or the technology she uses to browse the web.
What We Follow
Our Accessibility Standard
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, voice control, or other assistive technologies.
Perceivable
All images include descriptive alternative text. Color is never the sole means of conveying information. Text contrast meets or exceeds the 4.5:1 ratio required for normal text.
Operable
Every interactive element, navigation, buttons, forms, and links, is fully accessible via keyboard. Focus indicators are clearly visible throughout the site. No content flashes more than three times per second.
Understandable
The page language is declared in HTML. Form fields are clearly labeled and linked to their inputs. Error messages are descriptive and guide users toward resolution.
Robust
Our site is built with semantic HTML5 landmarks, ARIA roles, and attributes that ensure compatibility with current and future assistive technologies including screen readers.
How We Do It
Technical Measures Taken
- Semantic HTML5 elements and landmark regions (header, main, nav, footer) used throughout every page
- A visible "Skip to main content" link is provided at the top of every page for keyboard users
- All form inputs are programmatically associated with their labels using htmlFor and id attributes
- All interactive elements display a clearly visible focus indicator in on-brand royal blue
- ARIA roles, states, and properties are applied to dynamic components including accordions, dialogs, and navigation menus
- All images include descriptive alt text; purely decorative images are marked with aria-hidden
- Color contrast ratios meet or exceed 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text
- The site respects the prefers-reduced-motion media query, disabling animations for users who prefer it
- The HTML lang attribute is set to "en" and the dir attribute is set to "ltr" on every page
- The site is responsive and functional at 200% and 400% zoom without loss of content or functionality
Being Transparent
Known Limitations
While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance, we acknowledge the following known limitations and are actively working to resolve them:
- Some older photo gallery images may have limited alternative text descriptions. We are actively reviewing and improving these.
- Third-party embedded content (such as social media links) may not fully conform to WCAG 2.1 AA. We encourage users to contact those providers directly for accessibility support.
